The Lazy Song

I am feeling so lazy today! Really I am.

I just don't feel like doing anything at all except to lie in my bed and maybe, daydream!

Those of you who have been expecting my post on my Manila travels, I am sorry to say I will have to postpone it to another day. Really, really sorry about that.

It's just one of those days you know, when I don't even feel like writing a long post and putting up photos and things like that. I don't want to go out and meet up with friends. Or go out shopping or to the movies.

No, I just want to stay home, preferably snuggled up in my bed and do absolutely nothing at all! Have you ever experienced such a day?

Anyway, The Lazy Song by Bruno Mars sort of summed up my feelings at the moment. Listen to this live studio session and tell me if you feel the same. Enjoy!!!

Today I don't feel like doing anything
I just wanna lay in my bed
Don't feel like picking up my phone
So leave a message at the tone
'Cause today I swear I'm not doing anything

I'm gonna kick my feet up
Then stare at the fan
Turn the TV on, throw my hand in my pants
Nobody's gonna tell me I can't

I'll be lying on the couch
Just chillin' in my snuggie
Click to MTV, so they can teach me how to dougie
'Cause in my castle I'm the freaking man

Oh, oh
Yes I said it
I said it
I said it 'cause I can

Today I don’t feel like doing anything
I just wanna lay in my bed
Don’t feel like picking up my phone
So leave a message at the tone
'Cause today I swear I'm not doing anything
Nothing at all
Nothing at all

Tomorrow I'll wake up, do some P90X
Meet a really nice girl, have some really nice sex
She's gonna scream out 'This is Great!'
(OMG this is great)
Yeah

I might mess around, get my college degree
I bet my old man will be so proud of me
But sorry pops, you'll just have to wait

Oh, oh

Yes I said it
I said it
I said it 'cause I can

Today I don’t feel like doing anything
I just wanna lay in my bed
Don’t feel like picking up my phone
So leave a message at the tone
'Cause today I swear I'm not doing anything

Nothing at all
Nothing at all
Nothing at all

My Very First iPhone

YES!! Finally! I am a proud owner of an iPhone! Yes!!!

OK, this may sound terribly outdated since I bought the iPhone 3GS a few months back. Besides, iPhone had just released their newest version iPhone 4. I should have blogged about this then but I guess it's better late than never!

Now many people tell me they don't like iPhone. They prefer Blackberry, Nexus One, Samsung Galaxy S, HTC, Nokia N series and a host of other smart phones.

Well, I don't like smart phones because they are smarter than me. That's why I own an iPhone! LOL!!

Here is a picture of my iPhone.

Oh, if you want to know, the one on the left is a condom for my iPhone. Haha! It's to protect my iPhone you know, just in case...Smiley

With the iPhone, I can now check my emails, update my Facebook, chat on yahoo messenger and msn, tweet on Twitter and watch YouTube videos on the go!

I can surf the web, take pictures and post on my Facebook, record a video and post on YouTube, play games and even update my blog if I want to!

I can also listen to songs on my iPhone's iPod. There is no need to get an iPod!

Recently, I have been using my iPhone to record my piano playing and share with my blog readers. It was cool! Perhaps you want to listen to my rendition of Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars with a twist? Enjoy!!

Oh by the way, do you know iPhone can save your life? Yes, if you are lost in the jungle, and there is no line, you can use iPhone's compass to navigate your way out!

Since I am not a very technical person, I won't go into details about the iPhone. Suffice to say it is giving me hours and hours of enjoyment! I don't think I can survive without it!

There are however, two things I don't like about the iPhone. One, is its high power consumption. If I tweet a lot or play games on it, the battery will drain off fast and I would need to recharge it. That's such a hassle and can sometimes be very inconvenient especially when it takes close to two hours to fully recharge!

The other thing is if I set the alarm and switch off my iPhone, the alarm would not work. Unlike my previous handphone, the Sony Ericsson C902, I could set the alarm, switch the handphone off and when the time comes, the phone will switch on by itself and sound the alarm. Not so with the iPhone!

I bought this iPhone from Digi, and subscribed to its iDigi88 plan which requires me to pay RM88 per month for 24 months. Recently, Digi lowered the iDigi88 monthly payment to RM60 for new subscribers. That was a reduction of RM28!!

This is the new iDigi plan. Click to enlarge.

I was quite upset with this but what could I do? Looks like early birds never really had it good! RM28 per month for 24 months would mean I would be losing out on a total of RM672!!

Imagine what I can do with RM672!

✔I can stay one night at the Sea Villas in Pangkor Laut Resort!
✔I can dine at the dinner buffet at Le Meridien KL at least 6 times!
✔I can watch my favourite movies in Gold Class at GSC Signature at least 11 times!
✔I can enjoy crepe cakes at Food Foundry 74 times!
✔And if not mistaken, I can enjoy up to 672 sundae cones at McDonalds!

So am I pissed off? You bet! Smiley

But did I regret buying the iPhone? Hell no!!

Now go get that iPhone if you have not already. And tell me what you can do with RM672.

What Happened At Bali Airport

This is my last post on my Bali trip.

There will be no photos so I shall (try to) keep this post as short as possible.

After our dinner at Trattoria, we went clubbing for a while at Q-Bar in Seminyak. I did not know this was a gay bar until we went in. Well, gay or not, we just wanted to have a good time.

The next morning, we woke up late, had a late breakfast and went for a swim at the hotel's swimming pool before checking out and heading to the airport.

At the airport, something happened. I was not allowed in by the officer stationed at the entrance! Both my friends went through without problem but not me. The reason? I did not have a print-out of my AirAsia flight ticket!

I told the officer that I never ever print out my flight tickets as I usually just inform the check-in counter my booking number and everything would be automatically verified. However, this was Bali, not Malaysia, so the officer instructed me to get a print-out of the ticket.

I was fuming because I did not see the necessity of this useless exercise. Surely the check-in counter would be able to verify whether I bought the ticket or not!

Anyway, I went over to the AirAsia counter but guess what? There was a long queue there!! By the time I got my print-out, my friends had already checked in and were about to have lunch. Damn!

Before I went to the check-in counter, I encountered another stumbling block. I had to put my luggage through the scanning machine. I placed my check-in luggage but not my hand luggage into the machine. The officer in charge scolded me and instructed me to put in my hand luggage too.

I asked him why the need to scan the hand luggage twice since they would be scanning it again before I enter the departure lounge later. He raised his voice and firmly said that all luggage must be scanned there.

OK, I was not about to fight with him, but I rolled my eyes and showed him my face. I was fuming! In my mind, I was saying, stupid bastard! Even if that's the rules (and it was to me, a stupid rule!) you don't have to raise your voice! Where's the friendliness that Bali people were famous for?

I managed to catch up with my friends and had lunch at a cafe in the airport building. During lunch, we heard an announcement coming from the overhead speaker that the departure gate for our flight had opened.

So fast? I looked at my boarding pass. It stated boarding time at 1.45pm. It was only 1.10pm then.

We went over to enquire the exact boarding time and was told it was indeed 1.45pm but they were announcing it earlier. What the crap for?

The announcement continued irritatingly countless times and I wondered how many people had panicked thinking they were late!

It was my first time going through as many as three unnecessary procedures at one airport! Oh well....

Despite that, I enjoyed my Bali trip and I even bought myself a T Shirt that says ....

I will definitely visit Bali again in the near future!

And for those of you who have missed some of my Bali trip posts, here is the complete list.

Random Notes 6

1. I am blogging using another computer. My laptop is down with H10N10 virus (haha!) and still in intensive care. Poor me!

2. Sorry no photos today. All my recent photos are inside my "sick" laptop! I have some in my pendrive, but I am too lazy to upload them onto this blog.

3. I am feeling a bit frustrated because it's not like I did not have a paid version of AVG anti-virus program! I guess without AVG, my laptop would be breaking down more often!

4. Now there's something wrong with Blogger as well!! When I click on the "edit posts" button or "return to list of posts" button, an error message comes out. This is frustrating indeed!!!

5. I have a ghost story to tell you all, and it's been haunting me, but it will have to wait cos I am just too busy to write it all down.

6. Is Whitney Houston on drugs again? Gosh, she's just wasting away all her talents!

7. It's been really, really hot these days! I have been sleeping completely naked for the past few nights and with both the fan and air conditioner switched on! Have you tried sleeping completely naked? It's really nice! : )

8. Do you all still read the newspapers? I realized that since I started blogging, I have not been touching the newspapers as often as I used to.

9. I had recently composed a few songs on the piano. I want to record them and post them on my blog, but with Imeem taken over by MySpace, I just do not know where to save my recordings so that I can embed them on my blog. Apart from YouTube, any other good recommendations?

10. I am looking forward to a potluck party this weekend. I will be bringing loads of prawn crackers I bought from Kuala Selangor and of course, my empty stomach too! Haha!

11. Sorry I am not able to drop by most of your blogs. But once I get my precious laptop back, I will definitely visit all of you again! I miss reading all your blogs! So they better be good! haha, just kidding : )

5 Top Peculiar Malaysian Driving Habits

I've been driving for many years now and I still don't think I am very clear about some of the traffic rules in Malaysia. So let me ask you, my dear readers, to help me out here so that I can be a better driver.

Image courtesy of The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

1. Is the emergency lights only used when your car is having a breakdown and is stationary? If yes, why do I still see cars in front of me with their emergency lights flashing every time the driver brakes? It irritates the hell out of me!

2. Imagine you are driving on a two-lane road and you reach a junction with traffic lights. You intend to go straight. Is it wrong to stop on the left lane when the light turns red?

The other day, I was given the horn when I stopped on the left lane of a two-lane road. Obviously the driver behind me wanted to turn left and my car was blocking him. So was I wrong to stop on the left lane when I had no intention of turning left?

3. When you are on the right lane of a four-lane road, do you still need to switch on the right signal to indicate you are turning right at the traffic light? Isn't it obvious that you must be turning right because if you are going straight, you might be blocking the car on your left lane which may also be turning right?

Besides, if you switch on the right signal, wouldn't the driver behind you think you want to make a U-Turn?

Image courtesy of Driving School Directory

4. Is it even remotely possible to switch on the left signal light when you want to turn right and vice versa? I have seen this happened so many times there is no doubt that this is very possible but I just don't understand how it could possibly happen! Do you?

5. I am driving on the main road intending to turn right into a small road. A driver on the small road intends to turn right onto the main road. Who has the right of way? I would think I have the right of way, correct? Then why do some drivers force their way out from the small road as if they have the right of way?

All About Fast Food

1. I don't like fast food. So don't ask me to eat McDonalds, KFC, PizzaHut, A&W, Dunkin Donuts, etc. etc. Well, I can still eat them once in a while since I'm a pretty flexible person, haha! But not every week please!

2. I have not eaten KFC for the past 10 years, believe it or not! Then that day, I broke my record and went to KFC for lunch! And I still didn't like it. I mean, their fried chickens were so small and simply not nice at all! I don't think I'll ever go there again!

3. Talking about fast food, I think I still prefer McDonalds although I hardly eat there. Well, I do like their curly fries and delicious sundae cone. And if I ever eat their fries, I always dip the fries NOT into the chili or tomato sauce....but into the sundae ice cream! If you have not tried my method of eating McD french fries, try it and tell me what you think! Just don't blame me if you get addicted to it! Haha!

4. By the way, do you know the six worst fast food burgers in the USA? McD is not in the list, thank goodness! Anyway, read about it here.

5. The only thing I like about A&W is their root beer and their ice cream waffles. Absolutely nothing else! Their coney dogs are fit for dogs, not humans! (Sorry for my sarcasm!)

6. I don't fancy donuts. And that's a huge surprise cos I have sweet tooth! I am simply not impressed with J Co or Krispy Kreme and I totally hate Dunkin Donuts! I wonder why Dunkin Donuts are still around! Give me cakes or toast with butter and kaya anytime! By the way, eat more Krispy Kreme if you fancy getting diabetes.

7. Cupcake chic? They are nice and delicious but totally not for those looking to lose weight! Although I'm not one of them but still, no thanks!

8. Pizza Hut is totally overrated. I don't really fancy pizza by the way, and they are so calorie laden they do absolutely nothing to reduce your waistline. Between Pizza Hut, Domino and Shakeys, I think I rather choose Domino. What about you? By the way, go for Shakeys if you want to increase your sodium intake and your blood pressure as well.

9. Would you dare to eat nothing but fast food for the next 30 days? A guy actually did it and was featured in the award winning documentary Super Size Me. As a result, he gained weight, increased his cholesterol levels, and experienced mood swings and sexual dysfunction! After that, he took 14 months to lose all the weight he gained from his experiment! Read all about it here.

10. I know a lot of people will hate me for this post especially the fast food industry people! But this is my blog and I think I have the right to say what I feel! You may not agree but please respect my right to express my opinion. Well, I used to like fast food when I was younger. Maybe, just maybe, it's because I am getting older. Either that, or I'm more health conscious nowadays. Oh well.... ; )

5 Amazing Things I Like About Thailand

Do you know who are the friendliest people on Earth?

I don't, since I have not traveled widely enough to all countries in the world. But one thing is for sure, it's not us Malaysians!

A lot of foreign tourists said we Malaysians are warm and friendly, but if you have ever been to Thailand, you will know we are no where near their level.

I am not writing this post to criticize Malaysia or to praise Thailand, but just to share what I think. Strictly my own opinion and you are welcome to disagree with me!

And so here are 5 amazing things I like about Thailand based on my personal observation.

1. Did you know that traffic jam is legendary in Bangkok? I went there a couple of years back and the roads were just clogged with vehicles! And their 'tuk tuk' drivers were simply notorious for their reckless driving!

Photo courtesy of ESL Teachers Board

And yet, I could not help but feel it's also one the safest cities for drivers and pedestrians alike! Have you heard of serious road accidents in Bangkok? Well, at least not as many as in KL right?

And what really amazed me was they were not horn-happy unlike Malaysians! Even with all the traffic on the road, I did not hear a single driver horning his or her car! Isn't it amazing?

A 'tuk tuk' image courtesy of sino.net

2. Did you notice that most Thai people are slim? I hardly see any fat or obese people in Thailand! Now why is that? I guess it's their fresh and healthy food, devoid of too much oil and fats! Also, I think they walk a lot!

Now I have nothing against fat people, but I just marvel at how the Thai people manage to stay slim! I guess they are active people unlike most Malaysians who eat 24 hours a day and do not exercise!

Tom yam goong image courtesy of Thailand Travel Online

3. Do you think the Thai language is one of the most gentle and polite languages in the world? I really think so! Maybe that's why when the Thai people talk, they seem to appear so much more polite than Malaysians!

But I don't think it's in the language alone. I am pretty sure the people there are polite and caring. And most importantly, they give the best service! Is it any wonder that Thai's tourism industry is booming like nobody's business?

4. Did you know the living condition in Thailand is worse than in Malaysia? And they are suffering from economic problems and political upheavals. Yet, the Thai people are simply nonchalant about all these. They seem to persevere and have the Mai Phen Rai attitude.

Mai Phen Rai is a well known Thai phrase for 'never mind', or 'no problem' or 'it doesn't matter'. And that's what I like about them! They take their problems in their stride. Life just goes on!

Now if only Malaysians have this Mai Phen Rai attitude and stop complaining when they are faced with minor obstacles and problems!

5. I notice Thailand is a very open country and they do not discriminate against people with different sexual orientation (read gay). Where else in an Asian country can you find go go girls and gay bars being openly promoted to lure in tourists?

I doubt Malaysia will ever be this open. Especially when the authorities here think being gay is tantamount to committing a sin that is worse than murder. I really think we should accept people as they are, be they straight or otherwise!

Random Notes 3

1. I don't normally blog on Sundays but today I just feel like blogging. Maybe it's the nice cool rainy weather. It seems to have an effect on me. A good one that is. And I'm going to say this for the umpteenth time - I LOVE the rain!!!

2. I had so much fun writing my Tribute to my blogger friends that I am definitely going to write a sequel to that very soon! But blogger TZ was not very happy with me for calling him a loony. I hope he's not taking it too seriously because I was just joking! Read his post and my response here.

3. I am finally on Twitter! Yup, I'm tweeting practically everyday and it is becoming somewhat addictive. I even update my Twitter on my mobile phone when I go out. Seriously, I must stop this unhealthy obsession! But if you like, do follow me on Twitter! : )

4. Yesterday, I talked to a very young friend of mine who had never been to Thailand before. He told me he wanted to see tigers! Haha! That reminded me of my hilarious conversation on tigers!

5. I am excited and looking forward to a short holiday trip with a fellow blogger next weekend. This trip will be a series of firsts for me. It will be my first time going there, my first time going on a trip with this blogger and also my first time flying Firefly! Well, there's always a first time for everything, and flying Firefly is no different. Haha!

Random Notes 2

I am just so busy this week! Hardly have the time to blog, but no matter what, I got to blog! So it'll be a short post today, I hope.

I know some of you are waiting for Part 2 of my Lost In Xingping post - sorry about that! I shall post that once I'm free to do so. Thanks for your patience!

Today's post shall be another Random Notes so I'm calling it Random Notes 2 : )

1. I am planning to go for a 6-day holiday to Siem Reap, Cambodia with Jam and his friend next year from 29th July 2010 - 3rd August 2010. I am looking for a travel partner to share a room with me. Anyone interested?

Conditions as my travel partner are as follows:
  • No pictures of me and Jam and his friend to be posted on blogs or anywhere online.
  • Bring your own camera - no sharing of photos are allowed.
  • I may snore, so if you can't stand my snoring, bring a ear plug! No complaints on my snoring allowed.
  • Male preferably below 40 years old. Female below 35 years old and don't mind sharing same bed with me.
OK, just kidding on that last one. Haha!

Honestly, females are welcome! Just that I will book a room with twin beds instead of a double bed. But if you insist on a double bed, then please send me your latest photo and I shall decide. LOL!

Of course, if you don't feel comfortable to be sleeping in the same room with me, then I am afraid you can't be my travel partner!

Now I'm not being ageist (as in sexist) when I limit the age. It's just that this is not going to be some relaxing, luxury holiday. We are going for some sort of backpacking travel just like what we did in Guilin, China. So you must be reasonably fit and not get tired easily.

Of course if you are over 50 but is still fit and can go backpacking and not let us wait for you every time, then you are most welcomed to join us!

2. Jam and his friend will be going straight to Redang Island after returning from Cambodia. They will stay for 3-4 days in Redang. I am not sure if I would be joining them. I will decide on this later.

3. I just signed up for Facebook. Yeah, you better believe it! I know I have said that I don't do Facebook, but I do sometimes contradict what I said! Of course, don't expect to see my photos on Facebook! Well, if you want to add me as a Friend, please do so here. But do let me know that you read about it here as I don't simply add anyone!

4. What? We Malaysians have to pay RM50 credit card tax every year? Even though I only have one card, I am so unwilling to pay this unnecessary tax! I call this daylight robbery! I hope the banks will absorb the RM50 tax!

Random Notes

I am supposed to be posting Part 3 of My Yulong River Rafting Adventure today, but I think I will put that on hold to blog about some other stuffs.

I have been following Shingo T's blog for some time now, and I thought I like his 'random notes' posts. So I decided to start my own Random Notes! Here goes...

1. First, I would like to announce the winner of "I Heart KL T-shirt" contest. Congratulations to Reanaclaire! You just won yourself a "I Heart KL" T-shirt! Please email me your address so I can mail the T-shirt to you! Thank you for those who participated!

2. I bought myself 3 CDs last week.

Photobucket

They were worth buying as each CD costs RM25 only with the exception of the Mariah Carey's latest album which was retailed at RM29. It was actually sold at a special price of RM25 on the first day of the album launch in Malaysia but I was not free to buy it! : (

I know most people now download songs from iTunes and other sources online, but I still like to collect CDs. Probably I'm a bit old fashioned? : )

Anyway, these 3 CDs are worth buying as they contain great songs! No need for me to mention Black Eyed Peas - they already have several hits from their album! As for Colbie Caillat, I can sense some of the songs in her album to have great potential to be radio friendly hits!

3. I've been listening to Mariah Carey's latest album "Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel" for several days now. If you don't already know, I am a HUGE Mariah fan! Look, I have 12 of her CDs!!

Photobucket

I have even wrote a whole post dedicated to her! Read that here if you haven't already. I shall write a detailed track by track review of her latest album in my future post soon. Meantime, if you are a fan, help me to vote for Mariah's song on Mix FM and Fly FM. Thanks!

4. I love to eat cherries and grapes! Do you? Both cherries and grapes are full of antioxidants which are good for you! The other day, a friend of mine went to Selayang market and I asked him to buy me some grapes and cherries.

Photobucket

I was just a bit concerned over the grapes - the skin of the grapes were full of white spots. Do you know how to get rid of them? No matter how much I washed the grapes, the white spots or stains would not come off.

Anyway, the cherries were a hit with my family members. Within a short period of time, the full bowl of cherries became like this!

Photobucket

And before you know it, only the last one was left standing!

Photobucket

Guess who ate that? Haha!

5. I have over 600 unread emails in my inbox! I really don't have the time for this! I am very tempted to delete all the emails! Should I?

6. Anyone interested to watch "Cuci The Musical"? It will be staged from Oct 28th - Nov 8th 2009 at Istana Budaya, KL. Tickets are priced from RM43 (cheapest) to RM253 (most expensive). I normally buy the cheapest ticket seats on the highest floor and use my binoculars to watch! Haha!

The show also stars Adibah Noor, one of my favourite local singers.

The best musical I have ever watched at Istana Budaya is "Chang & Eng", a Singaporean production. Maybe because I loved all the songs - even bought the CD! Oh yes, I remember Adibah Noor performed in Chang & Eng too. She's fantastic!

I have watched "Puteri Gunung Ledang The Musical" and "P. Ramlee The Musical" at Istana Budaya and they were not bad. The only problem with Istana Budaya is the seats are too cramped. Tall people would have a problem sitting in the seats there as there is not enough leg room!

7. I don't like the empty spaces on both sides of my blog! Can't they fill up the whole screen? Anyway, I find that it's nicer to read my blog if you magnify it (or zoom in) by pressing Ctrl and +. Alternatively, you can press Ctrl and scroll mouse wheel upwards.

You can press Ctrl and + a few times or scroll the mouse wheel until you reach the desired size.

The photos look even better at this enlarged size! To return back to default, just press Ctrl and the number 0.

Try it now. Do you agree with me?

Of Holidays And Childhood

Yippee! Today is a public holiday!

No Monday blues for me! Isn't it nice to have Monday as a holiday?

Sorry to those of you who are not staying or working in Selangor. I guess it's just another normal working Monday for you. Well, look at the bright side. Hari Raya holidays are coming in 2 weeks time!

I still remember when I was small, I used to dislike going to school. I always looked forward to the weekends. Friday nights had got to be the most enjoyable nights for me those days. I could look forward to Saturdays and Sundays with joy!

I would dread Sunday nights. In fact, I would start feeling down by Sunday afternoon. That's how bad it was. By the time I got ready for bedtime on Sunday night, I would wish that I would be in dreamland forever and the next day would never ever come!

And the whole process would repeat itself week after week, like a horrible cycle that would only be interrupted by the school term holidays and the occasional public holidays!

Of all the holidays that I experienced during my childhood days, the year-end school holidays must be the best of them all! The 7-week (sometimes 8) holidays were weeks filled with fun, fun and more fun! There was practically nothing to worry about. No studies, no school projects, no waking up early. Gosh, those were the days....

Image courtesy of Diocese Of Oxford

Sometimes I could not help but feel a little upset when I see children nowadays. Especially Chinese schools' students. They do not seem to have any holidays! Even during school break, they need to study and attend extra classes in school. Most of them even need to go for tuition classes.

I mean, where is their childhood? I really think children deserve to enjoy their childhood because once they grow up, they will never be able to experience the joys of being children! No wonder Michael Jackson blamed everything that happened to him to his missing childhood!

Image courtesy of UN Good Works

I really hope children nowadays won't grow up and start acting weird and then when we question them on their behaviour, they will ask "Have you seen my childhood?"

Help! I'm Obsessed With Digi And Mariah Carey!

Hi everyone! My laptop is still in the HP Intensive Care Unit. Looks like the H1N1 really did it this time! Luckily, I have saved most of my files earlier so I'm pretty sure I will not be losing any important data.

Since I am using someone else's computer, I will have to keep my post short. Well, a short post is better than no post, right?

I have two things I would like to mention today. First, do you all know about the free unlimited downloading of music at Digi website?

You can download some of the latest chart toppers to your handphone or computer at zero cost! This is valid for first 30 days, after which you need to pay just RM5 per month. You can also stop subscribing at any time by sending an sms to Digi. Is that cool or what?

Sounds too good to be true right, so is there a catch? Of course! You need to sign up with Digi to enjoy this free unlimited downloading of songs!

I just had a great time downloading all my latest favourite songs from Lady Gaga to Eminem to Colbie Caillat to Mariah Carey to Akon to Rihanna to Daughtry to Beyonce to The Script to ... oh, just about every artists you know!

Thank you, Digi! Now did you hear that Digi is named Malaysia's most admired company for innovation by Wall Street Journal Asia for the third year running? I cannot agree more.

So quick! If you are not with Digi, switch over now!!

OK, the second thing is you all know I am a huge fan of Mariah Carey right? Her latest single, "Obsessed" is unfortunately not climbing up the charts. OK, I admit it's not a terribly good song, but if you give it a chance, and listen to it long enough, you might just find yourself liking it. It has a number of good hooks that I like.

By the way, "Obsessed" is her way of getting back at Eminem for dissing her and her husband in his song "Bagpipes From Baghdad" so you may want to listen to the lyrics from both Mariah and Eminem's songs carefully.

So since I'm so depressed with my laptop still in the Intensive Care Unit in HP Hospital, can you help cheer me up? It's very easy to cheer me up, you know.

Here's how. Just go to MixFM and vote for Mariah Carey's latest song "Obsessed". Click on the vote button and you are done! Won't take more than 10 seconds! Easy right?

Now while you are it, please don't start clicking on all the other songs please! I know, I know. You may prefer Colbie Caillat's "Falling For You" which is my favourite song too or Black Eyed Peas' "I Gotta Feeling" which is OK to me, but please don't do that yes?

I want Mariah Carey to end up at the top of the MixFM's chart for one thing, to help her promote the song and another, so that I can listen to it when I switch on my radio while driving! Haha! Thank you all for this favour!

Now you all know how Mariah's songs almost always end up No.1 on the charts! Haha! Just kidding! : )

Help! My Laptop Is Infected With H1N1!

Today's post will be short. Really short. I mean really, really short.

The reason?

My laptop is infected with H1N1.

OK, I am kidding.

Such a lame joke, isn't it?

I know you are not laughing. Especially those of you who are patiently waiting for more photos from my China trip.

Sorry about that.

Really sorry about that.

Really, really sorry about that.

Now do you see I am trying to lengthen this post? Haha!

OK, just a quick one. I am not blogging using my laptop today. It's gone away to HP hospital for some fixing. To get rid of H1N1 that infected it. Damn H1N1!

Infect humans and animals not good enough and now you want to take over my beloved laptop?

I am blogging from someone else's computer and I don't want to take too long. Sorry cannot blog hop today. Will miss reading all your posts!

Yesterday, I realized something was wrong when my I logged into my blog. Windows just closed suddenly. I restarted it but it closed again within 5 seconds. I tried again and the same thing happened.

I was totally horrified. I was like, no! No! No! No! Nooooooooooo!!!!

I was not exactly worried about my laptop. So much about beloved laptop. Haha!

My main concern was I could not blog!

I was wondering how long I could last without blogging?

Hmmm, I didn't blog during my 10 days in China. That's quite a feat, no?

OK, actually I did go online and peek a little. But fortunately or unfortunately, China banned blogspot. So I ended up reading all your comments from my gmail. And could not update my blog.

I guess I would survive this one too. Worse comes to worse, I'll just go cold turkey right? Wrong!

No way I'm going cold turkey. By the way, the H1N1 got to the turkey too in case you didn't know. Haha!

Maybe I'll just drop by MPH and use their computer. Or visit any cybercafes for that matter. Although I hate cybercafes. They only use Internet Explorer and I absolutely hate IE!

How come they don't use Mozilla Firefox? Oh I know! The H1N1 must have gotten to the Fox too! Damn! Looks like even the sly Fox could not outsmart the pesky virus!!

Did I say this is going to be a quick one? Wait, let me scroll up to check.

Yes I did! Gosh, it didn't seem like a quick one, did it?

What to do? Old habits die hard.

By the way, if you have read until here, congratulations! You are officially my fan! Thank you!

And now if you don't mind, please leave some comments to entertain me while I bore myself to death without my laptop! Boo hoo!

I will try to read your comments from my handphone if H1N1 did not get to it first, that is.

Have a great day, everyone! And make sure you update your anti-H1N1 program! You don't want to suffer the same fate as me, do you?

Do You Do Household Chores?

There are two types of people in this world.

The first type do household chores. The second type don't.

So which type are you?

Well, not sure if I am supposed to be proud or not, but I belong to the first type. Now isn't that a surprise to most of you since men usually don't do household chores? Or at least that's what I've been led to believe. Real men don't do chores, do they? In fact, most men find that chores are, well, a chore!

But you know what? I think ladies are not that much different. I think they find household chores boring! No? Oh, come on, admit it, ladies! Otherwise, why would you bother to pressure your partner or your other half to share all the housework?

Now those of you who are fortunate enough not to do any household chores must be laughing at me. Well, laugh all you want! It's not that I can't afford a maid or a servant to do all those chores. I choose not to employ them.

Now did I hear some sniggers?

OK, OK. I admit. I can't afford to employ them to clean my house. But that's not the main reason why I don't employ maids or servants. The major reason is that I don't think they can do the job as good as me! Call me fussy or whatever! But if you can't satisfy me, then I don't feel like paying you! Oh, this doesn't sound right, does it?

Ok, let me just rephrase that! What I'm trying to say is, if you can't clean the house the way I want it to be cleaned, then I don't feel it is worth my money paying you to do the job!

Might as well I clean it myself, right?

The last time I got an Indian lady to scrub my toilet, she broke a few of my toilet tiles! Goodness, was she Superwoman in disguise or what!

And I wouldn't dream of getting an Indonesian maid! My sister's first Indonesian maid did not know how to hold the broom and turn the tap and my sister had to teach her! Can you believe it?

Her second maid almost committed suicide in her house and that was a major scare for her!

Her third one irritated her so much that she finally decided to live without a maid! So no Indonesian maid for me, thank you!

But doing all these chores myself are tiring and awfully time consuming! And for those of you who have never done any household chores before and are living like princes or princesses, let me give you the low down on the types of household chores that exist in my part of the world.

1. sweep floor
2. mop floor
3. wipe windows
4. wipe ceiling fans
5. wash bathroom
6. wash clothes
7. dry clothes
8. iron clothes
9. wash dishes
10. dust tables and chairs and shelves

There may be other chores, but these are the main ones. Of all these chores, I hate washing the bathroom the most! Yet, in my house, I am known as the "Toilet Cleaner". Yes, that means I am solely responsible for making sure the toilets in my house are always clean and spotless.

Comics courtesy of Mark Stivers

That's a tough job as I have three toilets in my house! I am seriously considering locking up one of the toilets! Less work for me, haha!

I don't mind washing clothes because all you need to do is just dump the whole lot into the washing machine, right? Wrong! To me, I need to scrub that collar part of a shirt because somehow the washing machine can't do the job of removing sweat stains from the collars! I really think they should come out with more intelligent washing machines. But luckily, washing clothes is not part of my job. It's my brother's. Haha!

Washing clothes is one thing, but I really think ironing clothes is worse. It has to be one of the most tiring and irritating chores! I simply hate to iron clothes! I think I will just wear wrinkle free shirts and T shirts from now on!

I used to mop the floor every 2-3 days. Now you'll be lucky to find me mop the floor once a week. No wonder my mom keeps complaining nowadays! Maybe I should get that robot to help me clean the floor. You know, that cute round machine that cleans your floor as it runs around on its own? Wonder how effective is that robot?

But you know what? Even though I detest household chores, I have a strange liking to one chore. Want to know which one? Call me insane or whatever, but I love washing the dishes! Yes, you read that right! Don't ask me to cook, but wash the dishes? Give it to me, baby!

I really don't know why but I like to see the bowls and plates squeaky clean. Maybe I am abnormal, but it's been like this since I was small. Washing the dishes makes me happy.

But wait. That does not mean not washing the dishes will make me unhappy. That's an entirely different thing altogether. To clear this up, let me just say that I prefer not having to wash the dishes, but if I have to, it's perfectly fine!

So anyone want to invite me to your house and cook a nice meal for me? In return I will wash the dishes for you! Sounds like a good deal, no?

What Is Your Ideal Breakfast?

I hope you eat breakfast. I know of some people who don't.

They said there is no time to eat breakfast as they tend to rush to work. Some said they just don't have the appetite to eat anything in the morning.

But breakfast is important if you want to lose weight, or if you want to keep your blood sugar stable.

Imagine not having any food or nutrient entering your body since dinner the night before! Oh, I know some of you eat supper. haha! Still, your body is deprived of food for 8 - 12 hours and if you don't eat breakfast, you will be further depriving it of nutrients for another 4 - 5 hours until lunch time!

In the meantime, your blood sugar drops drastically and your body goes into starvation mode. So what does the body do in this situation? The body, being instinctively smart, will slow down your metabolism and store your fat in an attempt to make sure you survive the hunger. In other words, skip breakfasts often enough, and you will put on weight!

Therefore, make sure you do not skip breakfast!

Anyway, that's not the point of today's post. I really just want to know what is your ideal breakfast.

For me, I actually like my breakfast to consists of a cup of hot milo or chocolate (not coffee or tea!),

two half boiled eggs topped with soya sauce and pepper...

....and a few slices of bread or toast with thick kaya and butter! Hmmm....yummy!

Photo courtesy of Singapura Daily Photo

That's my ideal breakfast. No need nasi lemak, coffee, roti canai, McBreakfast and what nots!

But in reality, what do I eat for breakfasts everyday? Believe it or not - it's nothing but fruits, fruits and fruits!

Like jackfruit (nangka),

nangka

dragon fruits,

papaya,

pineapples,

Well, you get the idea!

Why do I eat fruits for breakfast? Isn't it weird?

I started this 'eating fruits for breakfast' routine more than 8 years ago. Here are my reasons...

1. I learnt that fruits are the most nutrient densed of all foods! Since my body is deprived of nutrients for almost 12 hours since dinner the night before, I would need to replenish them. So what better way than to eat nutrient densed food like fruits?

2. I also learnt that fruits are best consumed on an empty stomach. This is because fruits are the most easily digested food in nature. If you eat fruits following a heavy meal, the fruits will not be able to pass into the intestines from the stomach because they are prevented from doing so by the other food that are harder to digest. The fruits will then rot in the stomach, and ferment with the other food resulting in bloating, wind and indigestion.

No wonder I don't feel good when I eat fruits for dessert after a meal! That's the wrong way of eating fruits! Fruits should be made the appetiser, not the dessert!

3. Do you know we need to take in at least 25 g of fibre daily? That's like eating 12-15 apples a day! Well, when I eat fruits for breakfast, I can ensure that I will fulfill my daily fibre requirement. Of course, my fibre intake also comes from vegetables and not solely from fruits.

4. Lastly, fruits are known to be detoxifying. Meaning, they help to cleanse our internal body from accumulated toxins. So eating fruits first thing in the morning will help to detoxify our body and encourage us to pass out those toxins in the form of stools.

The bottom line is, fruits are good for us and we need to eat lots of them! However, we normally don't eat enough because after eating breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner, we have no space left for fruits! If you were to follow the rule of eating fruits on an empty stomach, it is even harder to eat lots of fruits! So to me, the best time to eat fruits on an empty stomach is during breakfast!

Oops! As usual, I have gone way off topic! Looking back at the title of my post, I am supposed to ask what is your ideal breakfast! Haha!

Although I eat fruits for breakfast everyday, I do occasionally indulge in my favourite half boiled eggs, bread with kaya and butter and a cup of hot Milo or hot chocolate.

What about you? Do share with me what you normally eat for breakfast everyday and what is your ideal breakfast food.

Top 10 Things That Irritate Me In The Cinema

Do you like watching movies? Most people do but some like to watch them at home. Me? I love watching movies at the cinema!

My favourite cinema at the moment is GSC Signature at The Gardens Mall in MidValley City. I know! I know! I have criticised it in my post last time, but after I went there early this year, I totally changed my mind. In fact, I was hooked!

Although it costs at least RM20 per ticket, which is almost twice the amount of a ticket at a normal cinema, it is worth it. For one, you get a bigger screen, more comfortable seats and less crowd! Besides, the crowds are the more civilised one, if you know what I mean.

You don't? Well, then let me tell you some of the less "civilised" things that I encounter in the normal cinemas that irritate me to no end!

1. Talking loudly on the handphone

This is the most irritating thing that one can do in the cinema, and let me tell you in case you are not an avid cinema goer, this happens a lot in Malaysian cinemas! Don't these people have any consideration for others? How am I going to concentrate on the dialogues spoken in the movie if they are interrupted and mixed with dialogues on the handphone?

I even have a friend who is like that! Sometimes she would receive a call in the cinema, and she would whisper into her phone. But when she could not hear the person at the other end, she would say "Hello? Hello?" a few times with increasing volume each time. I would get irritated and said "Shhhhh!!" but she would just ignore me!

When I tell her she is not supposed to talk on her handphone in the cinema, she would say it it is a very important call and she had no choice. Well, what can I say? Is the call so important that her life depends on it? And how come ALL her calls were so important, I wonder?

After a few times like that, I knew there would be nothing I could do short of arguing with her. So no more watching movies at the cinema with her! Good riddance!

2. Chit Chatting

Do you believe if I tell you that there are some people who go to the cinema not to watch movies but to catch up with their friends? Yes, you better believe it! I have encountered this before, and it really made my blood boil!

There was once I was watching a movie in the cinema and there was this couple just right behind me who could not stop chit chatting. Let me tell you, if I had just sat there and not intervened, I would have learnt enough about their private lives to write a tell-all book!

I told them very nicely that it was difficult for me to concentrate on the movie if they keep chit chatting like that. Well, they stopped. For a while. Maybe 5 minutes. Maybe 6. Then they were at it again!

For goodness sake, if you want to chit chat, why bother going to the cinema? Just sit at a nice restaurant or at a beautiful park and you can chit chat till kingdom come!

My friend who were with me gave them a mouthful and then we stood up and sat at two empty seats further down the hall!

3. Giggling all the time

Oh, let me tell you about this one! One time I had the unlucky experience to sit next to two girls who kept giggling non stop from the moment the movie started. And mind you, the movie was a serious drama. Definitely no comedic elements in the script whatsoever.

I really did not know the reason why they kept giggling, but it just got onto my nerves! I guess they were just chit chatting like case No.2 above and not really watching the movie. I just told them, "Excuse me, are you in the wrong hall? This movie is not a comedy!"

Luckily, they got it and they actually left after that. Phew!! At last, I got to have some peace of mind for the remaining part of the movie!

4. Laughing for no reason

OK, this is not as bad as the giggling above, but it still irritates me. I don't know why there are people in the cinema that laugh aloud at the most unfunny jokes. And they can even laugh at advertisements before the movie proper. I mean, what is so damn funny that you need to laugh aloud like that? It's as though they have never been to the movies before. Maybe they are from some kampong some where and this is their first time watching a movie in the city?

I honestly don't know! Some of the scenes in the advertisements - we have seen countless of times before, and even if we have not seen them, we would just merely smile and not laugh aloud like some idiots! I cannot understand why they need to laugh like that. I even think it sounds fake! Anyone can enlighten me on this crappy behaviour?

5. Sneezing or coughing all the time

Have you been to the cinema where someone sitting close to you kept sneezing or coughing? I mean it's OK to sneeze or cough once in a while, but not every few minutes!

If you are sick, for goodness sake, please don't spread your germs around in the cinema hall! At least have the decency to excuse yourself and leave the hall. Or suck a cough drop or something to stop yourself from coughing like someone with a terminal disease.

6. Kissing and making out

Have you ever seen couples kissing and making out in the cinema hall? I have to admit the dark environment in the cinema hall is just perfect for such actions! But come on! You go to the cinema to watch movies, not practise French kissing!

I mean, if you can't control your raging hormones, there is one simple way to overcome it. Just go to a cheap hotel, book a room and do whatever you want to do in there, for God's sake!

Don't do it while I am trying to enjoy my movie! I prefer to see my favourite stars making out on the screen, not you!

7. Sms-ing

Some people think that sending text messages on the phone is OK as long as they are not talking aloud on their phones. Well, how wrong they are! I don't know about you, but when someone sitting in front or by my side start sms-ing, the bright light from his or her phone would distract me from my movie watching.

I really think people should switch off their phones completely if they are addicted to texting and sms-ing.

8. Bringing a noisy or crying kid

I really hate it when the movie I'm watching is interrupted by noisy or crying kids! Why do parents like to bring their kids to the cinema if their kids are not disciplined enough to keep quiet during the movie? It is just so inconsiderate of them!

If they still want to watch the movie, simply get a babysitter to take care of their kids. Don't bring the kids into the cinema! If they do not have a babysitter, then don't watch the movie in the cinema. Get the DVD and watch it at home!

In fact, I think kids younger than 6 years old should be banned from the cinema!

9. Bad breath and body odour

Some people have stinking breath that I can smell two seats away! And some people have body odour that seems to suffocate me and makes me gasp for fresh air! Oh, these are the nightmares that can happen in the cinema if you are unlucky enough!

What would you do if the person sitting next to you have the strongest, most foul smelling body odour that would threaten to make you faint? Would you leave or would you struggle to watch the entire movie in that condition? Or would you tell that person he has body odour and could he please leave?

Well, I was lucky enough one time when this happened to me because there were many empty seats and I just simply changed seat. I can't imagine what I would do if the hall was full!

10. Revealing the ending aka spoilers

I don't know why but there are some people who go to watch the same movie twice or thrice or God knows how many times! I'm OK with that actually. If you want to watch the same movie 100 times, that's your God damned business! I'm sure the cinema operators welcome you with open arms!

But what I am not OK about is when these people start telling their friends loudly in the cinema the movie's storyline, what's going to happen next and worse, how the movie is going to end.

I mean, don't they know most of the people in the cinema were there to watch the movie for the first time? We don't need you to spoil it all for us, thank you! I am not going to pay RM10 for a movie that I know the ending to even before I watch it!

Imagine knowing what's going to happen in the next scene. If I were to watch horror movies, I would absolutely hate it if someone were to say "Oh, look out! The ghost is going to appear here!" Or if I were to watch a whodunit movie, someone were to say "There he is! He's the killer! You just can't guess it right?"

I think I would go and strangle that person! Wouldn't you?

What Happened To Imeem?

I've been very busy lately, so I must apologize if I did not do any blog hopping these days. Also to all my Entrecard friends, I am sorry I have not been able to drop on your Entrecard widget.

Work has taken its toll on me and I need a break! And I'm happy to report that I am in fact taking off from work starting today and will be lasting for the next few days! Yeah! I'm off on a short holiday! Yippee!!

So that would mean no blogging, no surfing the internet, no replying to emails and all those stuffs! I really must go offline for a while, or I will go insane! Yes, I need this much needed break. Hopefully when I'm back from the holidays, I will be all fresh and ready to blog again!

Last night, I was in an unexpected mood to play my piano so I played for 3 full hours until 2am in the morning! When I am in my element, nothing can stop me! I can just play and play and play till I drop!

I'm pleased to let you know that I've recorded one song for you all. Just so that you can join another one of my guessing games/contests. For those of you who have tried to guess my previous song and failed, here's another opportunity for you!

However, very unfortunately, I discovered that the imeem website was down. I tried to log in a few times last night but failed each time. I tried again early this morning, again to no avail.

For those of you who don't know, imeem is a site where I can upload all my recorded songs and then embed them onto by blog.

I wonder what happened. I hope they have not shut down! There were some rumours circulating they were in trouble. You can read about it here and here.

I really like imeem so I hope they will be back. Anyone knows the true story here? In any case, if it's really true that the company has closed and imeem is no more, can anyone please recommend me an alternative site? A site that I can upload my music recordings and also provide the facility for me to embed my recordings to my blog. Thanks!

Well, that's it for now! It's too bad I can't let you all hear the song and join in the fun of guessing the song's title. I was hoping that when I return from my holidays, I could look forward to see who has managed to get the correct answer and win whatever prize I have in store for the winner!

Maybe next time then. And now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to the airport! : )

Top 5 Things That Irritate The Hell Out Of Me

I'm a nice person. Really.

But I'm a human too and there are things that just irritate the hell out of me! So, if you don't mind, let me share with you what they are.

OK, I'll just mention 5 most irritating things cos I don't want to irritate the hell out of you by mentioning 20. LOL!

So here are my Top 5 in no particular order....

1. Slow Internet Connection
I don't know about you but I think Streamyx broadband sucks. I have complained about this before last year (read here) and I think the problem remains. Sometimes the connection is so slow it reminds me of my dial-up Jaring days. Fortunately, it does not happen all the time, or else I will quit blogging!

Have you ever tried calling them? Try it! You will then know not only their internet connection sucks, their customer service sucks even more! Honestly, I think the Government should stop protecting them and give them the monopoly.

Please take a look at our neighbouring country Singapore. I'm so ashamed compared to them! OK, Singapore may be a small country but if Malaysia want to be a developed country by 2020, then I think it should really buck up especially where broadband connection is concerned.

2. Hot, Humid Weather
The last few days were really, really hot! You can even feel the burning sensation on your skin when you go out into the sun. It's that hot! But what makes it worse is Malaysia's humid weather. The equation goes like this:

Hot + Humid = Irritation

Now, I am a person who sweat a lot and easily too! So imagine what happens when it's hot and humid. My sweat does not get evaporated and it sticks to me like a magnet. I end up being sweaty and sticky all day long! Now if you want me to rate how uncomfortable that is, with 1 as most comfortable and 10 as most uncomfortable, I'll give it a 11!

I have tried taking frequent baths but that does not help at all! The minute I step out of the bathroom, I get all sweaty again! The only way is to switch on the air conditioner. Now that is bliss! Sorry to fans of Earth Hour, but I have to say the air conditioner is the single most important invention in human history! No wonder I like to "lepak" in shopping malls to enjoy the free air conditioning. Haha!

Of course there's an advantage to this hot humid weather. It makes you look younger. I'm not joking.

You know why we Malaysians look younger compared to Westerners of the same age? It's because the humid air here provides natural moisturising for our skin. Our skin don't get wrinkled as fast as those who stay in countries with dry weather.

This is one reason why you should not stay too long in air conditioned rooms because the air inside the room will be dry. But you can bet that this will not stop me from staying in one!

3. Traffic Jams
Anyone who likes being trapped in a massive traffic jam on the road, please hands up! I hate traffic jams! I will do everything and go all out to avoid them.

Traffic jams not only waste my time, they increase my car's petrol consumption, wear and tear and not to mention my blood pressure as well! I don't mind choosing an alternative jam-free road which is two or three times longer. It is easier on my car and at least wasting my petrol this way is more worth it!

Also, I sometimes rather pay toll than queuing at the alternative, toll free roads. What's the point of queuing when you lose more from increased petrol consumption? And don't forget, time is money! I'm not supporting tolls here, but I'm just saying, either way you still lose, so might as well pay the toll!

4. Long Queues
I dislike queues! Any kind of queues whether it is queuing at the post office, or the cinema ticket counters, or at the immigration department. And don't even mention about queuing at restaurants. Especially when I am hungry!

I will always avoid queues like the plague. So you won't see me queuing up to buy tickets for a cinema show. I rather booked it online and collect the tickets before the show. If I see a queue at a restaurant, you can be sure I will give it a pass no matter how good their food is!

5. Flu and Sore Throat
I dread the flu and I hate sore throat! And the combination of flu and sore throat just irritate the hell out of me!

I don't know how some people can have flu and sore throat and still be able to act as if they are not sick. I don't think I am able to do that. You see, when I am down with the flu, I not only suffer from blocked nose or runny nose (it's usually one or the other or both!), but also a plethora of other things from hell like sore throat, fever, headaches, stomach upset, nausea, anxiety and difficulty in breathing.

As such, I will do my utmost to prevent myself getting flu and sore throat. That includes not getting too close to people who are having the flu! So if you have the flu, please excuse me if I don't wish to meet up with you or even visit you! I'm not being rude here, I'm just being smart! Haha!

Well, there you have it! My Top 5 most irritating things. How about you? What are the 5 things that irritate the hell out of you?
